NC learner admission applications to close at midnight─── 11:57 Wed, 30 Jun 2021
The Northern Cape is closing its learner admission application season at midnight, after a whopping total of 37 491 successful applications were received since the admission season started on 1 June 2021.
The Provincial Department of Education spokesperson, Lehuma Ntuane, says it has been smooth sailing and a successful admission season. Ntuane says Grades R and 1 recorded 13 441 and 5 809 applications respectively. This represents 7 310 and 3 070 learners seeking placement.
“Frances Baard district counts for 17 476 applications received thus far, which represent 7 772 learners seeking placement. It is followed by John Taolo Gaetsewe district with 9 741 applications representing 4 847 learners, ZF Mgcawu district is in third position with 4 803 applications received for 2 623 learners and Pixley ka Seme district recorded 3 479 applications for 2 738 learners,” Ntuane explains.
The Namakwa district registered 1 975 applications, which represents 1 478 learners seeking placement. “We are concerned by the low numbers of Grade 7 seeking admission into Grade 8 in the 2022 academic year. Therefore, we are appealing to all parents/legal guardians who have not applied to do so before the closing date tonight,” Ntuane says. He further says that the department is pleased with the fact that their Online Learner Admission System has proven to be effective and efficient throughout applications.
Ntuane says the Department will soon announce the next stage regarding the placement of learners for the 2022 academic year.
