Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, says the police are on the hunt for the two gun-wielding men who shot and killed one serving police officer, as well as wounding one other officer, a civilian, and a former police officer on Tuesday.

He says on Tuesday, a former officer in Ratlou in Thaba Nchu was wounded by the suspects following a hijacking incident, later the suspects killed a police officer in Wepener, and lastly wounded another officer stationed at the Van Rooyen’s Port of Entry. Makhele says a civilian female passenger in the vehicle of the second officer was shot in her stomach by the bullet that pierced through the head of the second officer who died on the scene.

In the statement, Makhele mentions that no one has been arrested and the case will be investigated by the Hawks in Bloemfontein. “All other critical units were roped in and will work around the clock to track the suspects. Anyone with information which can assist in tracing the suspects can call Crime Stop Nr. 08600 10111 or provide such information via MySAPS app,” he adds.
