FS Education confident of midterm exams' completion─── 10:55 Thu, 01 Jul 2021
The Free State Department of Education is optimistic that it will successfully complete mid-term exams despite level 4 lockdown restrictions.
This comes after President Cyril Ramaphosa had earlier this week moved the country to adjusted level 4. The Free State Education spokesperson, Howard Ndaba, said that the department is confident that it will successfully complete its mid-term schedule and they have developed implementable contingency plans in case of possible disruptions, including possible community protests.
The 2021 May/June exams are expected to continue under strict protocols, in line with adjusted level 4 regulations, as they were already published. The department has made arrangements with schools, which include part-time invigilators who are anticipated to manage exams until 7 July 2021. Scripts are expected to be marked from 7 to 17 July 2021, as a result of early closing and reopening of schools. Ndaba said that 5 schools are expected to be used as marking centers and no accommodation will be shared during this period.
