Executive Mayor, Mpho Chakane, tells OFM News they are seeing a surge in positive cases at Kroonstad and surrounding areas. He says positive cases in Kroonstad alone are now more than 4 000. Chakane confirms they have embarked on a drive to hand over personal protective equipment (PPE) to local clinics to assist in the fight against the pandemic.

Whilst Chakane has expressed concern over the spread of the virus, he says the lack of water supply in high-laying areas is being attended to. He says a new water pipeline has been budgeted for in the 2021/22 financial year to ensure sustainable water supply to areas that had no water.

“Regarding the high-laying areas, like Phomolong, I have apologised for that matter. We have now budgeted for a permanent solution that is going to assist communities”.

Chakane confirms the water project will kick off soon.
