Bodies of the family, consisting of two children aged 17 and 14 as well as two parents, were found in Willows in Bloemfontein.

Police spokesperson, Thandi Mbambo, said the bodies were found following information received by the police about a house that was burning in Victoria Road. She said a case of murder, inquest and arson have been registered.

Mbambo in a statement confirms the bodies of the father and mother had no visible injuries while that of the two children “were found with stab wounds and their throats slit”. She further highlighted a post mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Whilst the police are yet to confirm the identities of the deceased family, their deaths have since sent shockwaves on social media with users continuing to convey their condolences.
