NC SADTU calls more teachers, support staff to vaccinate as deadline looms─── 12:43 Wed, 07 Jul 2021
The Northern Cape South African Democratic Teachers Union's (SADTU) provincial secretary, Palesa Nqumashe, has made a final plea for more teachers and support staff to get vaccinated as the #DropAllAndVaccinate campaign draws to a close on 8 July.
“We are in the last week of vaccinations for teachers and support staff. We want to encourage our teachers to take advantage of this special dispensation afforded to them by going to vaccinate. It is critical that we all vaccinate to fight this invisible monster that is taking our lives,” said Nqumashe.
Nqumashe further stated that educators and support staff should look after their health, as they are assets within the education sector. This comes after the Northern Cape Health MEC, Zolile Monakali, had earlier encouraged more teachers and support staff to use an opportunity to vaccinate so that they could reach their target as a province by 8 July 2021, which will be the deadline day of vaccinations for educators and support staff. Monakali said vaccinating teachers and support staff will be contributing towards safer homes, schools and communities.
