NC police vaccination programme officially kick-started | News Article

The Northern Cape vaccination rollout for police officers officially kickstarted on Thursday morning, 8 July 2021, in Kimberley.

The provincial spokesperson, Dimikatso Mooi, says this places the province one step closer in fighting the spread of Covid-19. Mooi says so far in the province, 1402 police members have tested positive, with 29 deaths. Mooi further adds that 24 vaccination sites have been identified throughout the province for members to receive their jabs. This is to ensure that members across all levels get their vaccinations. Mooi says 500 police officers were vaccinated on Thursday.

"The launch forms part of an attempt by collective stakeholders in government to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic, which continues to claim lives of many people. The members are encouraged to make use of this opportunity and get vaccinated," Mooi says.

The vaccination rollout was attended by various police officers with the Acting Provincial Commissioner, Joey Kers, getting his jab. Kers was accompanied by Senior Provincial Managers who also formed part of the first group of police officers to get their jabs.
