Friday’s court sitting is to ensure that all necessary steps have been explored before trial and sufficient information has been provided for a trial date to be arranged by the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Hawks spokesperson, Christopher Singo, previously said in a statement that Leine was arrested after the South African Revenue Services reported him to the authorities over suspicions of fraudulent activities. Leine is alleged to have submitted false VAT returns worth more than R1,7 million between 2014 and 2018.

The Botshabelo-born presenter, who is out on R5 000 bail, has vowed to clear his name following his arrest. Leine said he will prove that he does not make a lot of money as it has been alleged.
