Centlec block tariffs to be corrected─── 15:03 Fri, 09 Jul 2021
Centlec summer block tariffs were corrected on the Centlec website and mistakes on the winter block tariff will be corrected.
This is according to DA councillor, Hans Britz, who says this follows after further interaction on behalf of the DA and the residents of the Mangaung Metro with the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa).
Britz says the effect will be that Nersa's prescribed tariff increase of 14.59% will be made applicable on all block tariffs.
OFM News previously reported that the ANC chief whip, Zolile Mancotywa, said Nersa has recommended a 15,09% electricity hike to Eskom, and based on that they decided to set the metro's electricity's hike at 14,59%, as recommended by Eskom to municipalities.

AfriForum appealed to residents of the Mangaung Metro to get involved in setting aside the process after the council on Thursday 1 July 2021 implemented a tariff that was not approved by Nersa. The AfriForum Regional Head for the Central Region, Jaco Grobbelaar, says this follows after Centlec submitted a changed tariff structure to the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) on 7 June 2021, which amounts to an increase above the municipal notch, without the documents required by law being submitted.
