NW MEC calls on residents to adhere to #Covid19 protocols─── 10:10 Sat, 10 Jul 2021
The North West Public Works and Roads MEC, Gaoage Molapisi, has appealed to residents to adhere to Covid-19 protocols.
He shared that, “The 6th of July 2021 marks the twelfth month since I lost my dearest friend, comrade and my colleague, Gordon Kegatilwe, as a result of Covid-19 complications,” said Molapisi.
According to Molapisi, the third wave has claimed many lives and this can only be avoided by adhering to coronavirus protocols and getting vaccinated.
He called on people to be responsible so that health workers, family members, friends, neighbours and community members at large can be safe.
Meanwhile, the North West Premier Job Mokgoro had earlier stated that it is critical for people to change their behaviour in order to flatten the curve of the pandemic.
He further stated that people may be fatigued by the outcomes of the pandemic, however, he cautioned that the virus does not get tired of spreading and killing. Mokgoro reiterated the importance of avoiding crowded spaces, wearing masks, sanitising, and social distancing.
Furthermore, acting Health Minister, Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane, has stated that the newest Covid-19 variant, Lambda, has not been detected in the country after reports that the variant had hit our shores.
The variant is said to have been reported in more than 30 countries, including the UK.
Molapisi said that with the country under lockdown level 4 and the Delta variant spreading rapidly, people should abide by Covid-19 regulations and register to be vaccinated in order to deal with the pandemic.
