Ntombela said the unfortunate death of Makhubo came at a time when there has been a devastating surge in Covid-19 positive cases. This comes after concerns that have been raised following the country’s registration of over an average of 20 000 positive cases daily.

Meanwhile President Ramaphosa has extended adjusted alert level 4, for the next 14 days. Schools' reopening has been extended by a week and the sale of alcohol has also been prohibited, amongst other things. Ntombela pleaded with people to take care of themselves and reduce the spread of the virus. She also stated that more lives will be lost, unless people change their behaviour.
