Free State donations reach needy in KZN - VIDEO─── 09:42 Thu, 22 Jul 2021
The last load of donations from the Free State was offloaded on Thursday morning 22 July 2021 in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
This follows a week long initiative from Volvo Bloemfontein where they collected donations from the Free State community, and even donations sent from all over South Africa.
Ansu Vorster, sales manager at Volvo Bloemfontein, says one Interlink double truck with three vehicles and trailers, packed with boxes of 38 to 40 crates of donations, were offloaded this morning in Hillcrest, Durban. Vorster says it was an amazing sight to see with all the donations being offloaded. She says all the donations will be delivered to those who are in desperate need of the basic essentials in the KwaZulu-Natal province.
"It all started with a social media message and from there on it was the community that came together, even outside of Bloemfontein such as Gauteng, Cape Town, everyone came together and just delivered. The community was absolutely amazing and today I'm standing here and it's not me, it's the blessing of the Lord that we can be here and deliver all of this food," Vorster says.
She says the focus is to help adults with babies in KwaZulu-Natal with the shortage of food and basic supplies. This follows the two-week long protests and looting in KwaZulu-Natal where buildings were burnt and shops were looted.
