High fire danger in NC, warns SA Weather Service─── LUCKY NKUYANE 10:22 Sat, 24 Jul 2021
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned of extremely high fire danger conditions expected over the western parts of the Namakwa District in the Northern Cape.
SAWS issued the warning on Friday afternoon.
This warning follows after the province's MEC for Agriculture, Environmental Affairs and Rural Development, Mase Manopole also warned farmers and land users to be cautious. OFM News recently reported that small-holding farmers in the Frances Baard District had lost some of their livestock and grazing land due to veld fires. Manopole said the province usually experiences magnitude veld fires during this time of the year.
SAWS said Matzikama Municipality in the Western Cape is also expected to experience extremely high fire danger conditions.
