Police spokesperson, Brenda Muridili, tells OFM News this follows after they went missing whilst chasing stock theft suspects in the area.

Search efforts led to the gruesome discovery of a burned police vehicle in the bushes outside Moseta on Tuesday. She says on that evening the officers were attending to complaints in the precinct and lost contact with their commander at the Community Service Centre (CSC).

Muridili says hours after the duo went missing, police instituted their own search for the officers.

“A 72-hour Activation Plan has been instituted for the manhunt of the suspects. The burned bodies will be subjected to DNA testing for identification. The motive for the killing forms part of investigations," she adds.

Muridili further says the province is affording the colleagues and families of the deceased police officers the necessary Employee Health and Wellness counselling.

The two allegedly disappeared on Monday night whilst chasing a vehicle thought to be used for stock theft.

It's further understood that the two police officials were on duty patrol on Monday night in Marikana, after spotting a suspicious vehicle.
