The power utility said load reduction will take place on Wednesday between 5:00 and 9:00, and again this evening in four provinces, including Mpumalanga and Limpopo.

The power supplier said this is to avoid network overloading in high-density areas.

Areas like Allanridge and Meloding in the Free State and Rustenburg, Vryburg and Klerksdorp in the North West are among those expected to be affected by the load reduction.

The load reduction notices to the four provinces comes as the power utility continues appealing to communities to reduce their consumption and switch off all unnecessary appliances.

The power supplier a week ago confirmed that the electricity grid is under severe pressure.
