Police spokesperson, Christopher Singo, tells OFM News that Mtjekelo entered the Harrismith post office with a fake pistol and threatened employees.

Singo says Mtjekelo was caught after security officials intervened and foiled his robbery attempt, which led to his arrest on 2 July.

Singo says that once he was caught he made an attempt to escape but didn’t cover too much distance, which led to his arrest.

“The matter was handed over to the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit in Bethlehem for further investigations, culminating in his sentencing on Thursday 29 July 2021,” ends Singo.
