Basic Education Minister expected in Mangaung─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 12:10 Wed, 04 Aug 2021
Schools in Mangaung in the Free State will on Thursday be in the spotlight. This, as Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga is expected to conduct an oversight visit to schools in the area.
Motshekga is expected to monitor schools’ compliance with Covid-19 regulations and how teaching and learning have been proceeding since the re-opening of schools last week.
She is expected to be accompanied by Education MEC Tate Makgoe when she kicks off the visit at Botlehadi Primary School. She will thereafter be expected to proceed to Pholoho and Tswellang Special Schools.
Motshekga’s visit comes weeks after she announced the return of primary pupils on a full-time basis to schools. During a media briefing prior to schools' reopening, she highlighted that the return of primary school learners at full capacity will enable them to recover learning and teaching time lost due to the extended school holidays.
