Ntombela weighs in on HOD positions─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 06:12 Fri, 13 Aug 2021
The Office of the Free State Premier says the process of assessing the performance of Heads of Departments (HOD) is ongoing.
This, as it is almost three months since premier Sisi Ntombela effected changes to HOD positions, including that of the Health Department.
In response to OFM News' questions regarding the acting position of Health HOD Godfrey Mahlatsi, her spokesperson Sello Pietersen says they acknowledge how critical the department is as the country continues to battle the Covid-19 pandemic.
Pietersen says they are confident Mahlatsi, having worked closely with the department in his previous position as Treasury HOD, will bring about the necessary changes to the Health Department.
This department recently made national headlines when its former HOD, David Motau, was listed among thirteen people arrested in connection with R8,7 million tender fraud.
Whilst the department has been embroiled in tender irregularities and fraud, coupled with questions over the HOD position, Petersen said they are confident about the capabilities of the Acting HOD. He says reviews into all acting HODs’ performances continue.
OFM News in May reported that Ntombela effected changes to the HOD positions by appointing Mosa Tlali as the acting head of Police, Roads and Transport, Mahlatsi as the acting HOD for the Department of Health, and Masechaba Sesing replacing him as the acting Head of Treasury.
Pietersen confirms Tladi continues to act as the Head of the Police, Roads and Transport Department following the precautionary suspension of Sipho Mtakati whose matters against the department is before the Courts.
