#WomensMonth: FS women in education commended for bravery─── 12:58 Wed, 18 Aug 2021
Premier of the Free State Sisi Ntombela applauded the bravery of females who are involved in the education sector following the outbreak of Covid-19, causing a pandemic.
This follows the virtual dialogue that was held by the premier on Tuesday, under the topic “Women in School Leadership: Education as a tool and resource to promote generational equality”, as part of Women’s Month celebrations. The premier’s virtual dialogue involved female principals, deputy principals, district directors, female HODs of the sister departments, and MECs in the Free State. Ntombela stressed the importance of having more women in senior positions and said that women should unite and not criticise one another.
“As government, we felt it was important to honour women in the education sector. We realise the importance of teachers, particularly female teachers. These are the heroines who play the dual role of mothers and educators. On a daily basis, these teachers interact with learners from different backgrounds with different challenges,” said Ntombela.
She said that women in the education sector showed their bravery by not shying away from their responsibilities when the Covid-19 pandemic started to affect the education sector in the Free State.
