#GBV case against NW father postponed─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 08:52 Tue, 24 Aug 2021
The case against a 38-year-old North West man accused of raping his daughter has been postponed to 2 September.
This, after he made a brief appearance before the Klerksdorp Magistrate's Court on Monday where it was confirmed that his docket need to be availed and further investigations need to be done. He is said to have raped his 12-year-old daughter at their residential home in Jouberton near Klerksdorp back in May.
North West NPA spokesperson, Henry Mamothame, says the suspect is a parolee who was convicted for a similar offence in 2008. He was then released on parole in 2016. His parole is set to expire on 23 December 2023.
"The child allegedly reported these rape incidents to her grandmother from her maternal side of the family and later reported it to the police. The child was allegedly staying with the accused following her mother’s death," said Mamothame.
The 38-year-old father will remain in custody until his court appearance next month.
