Trial date set in FS for #BrendinHorner murder case─── LUCKY NKUYANE 08:53 Tue, 24 Aug 2021

The Brendin Horner murder case is now set for trial, which will commence on 15 - 26 November 2021 in the Circuit High Court sitting in Bethlehem in the Free State.
This as Sekwetje Mahlamba and his co-accused, Sekola Matlaletsa, appeared for a pre-trial on Monday for the first time since their release on bail of R5000 in June 2021.
The legal defence Advocate, Machini Motloung, says the state plans to call about 38 of its witnesses, including four-star witnesses. Mahlamba and Matlaletsa are facing charges of robbery, murder, and stock theft after the murder of Horner in October 2020 near Fateng Tse-Ntsho at Paul Roux. OFM News previously reported the state's DNA test results of blood samples taken from the accused’s clothes, came back negative and did not match Horner's blood. This trial will sit for two weeks.
The first prosecutor removed himself from the case a few weeks after the DNA results came back negative. Mahlamba and Matlaletsa pleaded not guilty to the murder and robbery charges. The two were arrested in October 2020, following the discovery of Horner's body. Horner had sustained stab wounds to his head, shoulders, and hands.
