Mangaung residents deliver memorandum with grievances─── 15:32 Tue, 24 Aug 2021

A group of irate the Mangaung Service Delivery Forum (MSDF) protesters have delivered a memorandum with their demands to the acting Municipal Manager of the Bloemfontein-based Mangaung Metro and the Destea offices, as promised earlier on.
The MSDF took to the streets of Bloemfontein on Tuesday, expressing their dissapointment over poor service delivery, soaring electricity rates, and a lack of job opportunities in the capital city of the Free State, as well as Dewetsdorp, Botshabelo and Thaba Nchu, amongst others.
The secretary of the MSDF, Mpho Mojanaga, says Mangaung's structures should be dissolved, as those who are currently serving in high positions within these structures are part of a group that served under the former Free State Premier, Ace Magashule. Meanwhile, the Metro and the Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (Destea) have both promised to respond to the issues raised by protesters within seven working days.
“For a very long time this institution has not served the voice of the people. The workers that have been employed at managerial positions, and the politicians at the governing structures, are all those who have been serving the interest of Magashule. For that matter, the agenda was very simple, to ensure that the money accumulated by this institution, serve their own political interests," he adds.
