Youth #vaccination in Bfn expands | News Article

The Department of Health in the Free State continues to expand its vaccination programme that's targeting young people across Bloemfontein.

The department has now roped in the world's largest humanitarian movement, the Red Cross, to assist in its vaccination programme.

On Tuesday, both the department and Red Cross South Africa deployed their officials and nurses to Hoffman Square in the Free State capital, to administer the single jab of the Johnson & Jonhson Covid-19 vaccine. Thabang Steenkamp, who is one of the young people who got his jab at Hoffman Square, tells OFM News that he was happy to get his jab following an announcement that 18 to 34-year-olds can now vaccinate.

"I just got vaccinated and I still feel ok, I came to vaccinate on my own. But I still feel fine after vaccinating. I feel like vaccinating is good, you must rather be safe than sorry," said Steenkamp.

OFM News previously reported that over the weekend, the MEC for Health, Montseng Tsiu, launched the 18-34 vaccination programme at K-La-K in Bochabela. Free State Health spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, told OFM News that over 2 000 people aged between 18 and 34 received their one-dose vaccine.
