NW ANC IPC criticises violence over BGMs─── LUCKY NKUYANE 14:34 Thu, 26 Aug 2021
The North West ANC's Interim Provincial Committee (IPC) has lamented the violence that erupted between disgruntled ANC members in Swartruggens on Tuesday and Wednesday over the Branch General Meetings (BGM) and community meetings.
ANC IPC spokesperson, Kenny Morolong, tells OFM News that the behaviour of these members is in contrast with the beliefs and values which governs the party.
It's understood some of the ANC members are unhappy about the nomination list and further alleges that there is a collation of the party's candidate list meant for the local government elections. This then led to violence in that area.
Morolong says those found to be in the wrong will be subjected to the party's disciplinary processes.
"The ANC has vowed to listen to disputes through its Disputes Resolution Processes that are presided over by the electoral committee of the ANC." We urge communities to exercise restraint, he adds.
Morolong says the ANC will investigate the alleged rigging of the party's candidate list.
Recently scores of irate ANC members from Moretele Local Municipality took their their grievances to the ANC headquarters at Luthuli House in Johannesburg in Gauteng, where they picketed. This also was linked to the councillors' nomination meeting.
