Agent appointed by NW agriculture under investigation─── CATHY DLODLO 11:02 Wed, 01 Sep 2021
A forensic investigation into the appointment and performance of a company that was appointed by the North West Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is underway.
The National Department of Agriculture said - in a written response to a question tabled in Parliament - the investigation into the appointment of Agridelight has been instituted as part of the Section 100 intervention into the affairs of the provincial department.
The company was appointed by the department as an implementing agent. The investigation was commissioned and supervised by National Treasury and forms part of a collaboration with the Directorate of Priority Crime Investigations.
Meanwhile, after a court order has been obtained by government, Agridelight submitted a project closeout report which has been referred to National Treasury for analysis. At the end of any project, such a report has to be submitted. There has to be an official conclusion to a project, indicating that the project has come to an end, etc.
The scope of the work set out in the initial contract between the company and the provincial department is not yet known and a report is expected to be tabled soon.
