This follows a protest march seven days ago.

Mangaung's acting Municipal Manager Sello More promised leaders of the shutdown, among others Potso Motoko and Mpho Mojanaga, a response within seven working days after the group handed over their memorandum of grievances.

Disgruntled residents from towns as far as Thaba Nchu, Botshabelo, and Soutpan marched to the offices of various government entities on 24 August 2021 to complain about fraud, high electricity tariffs, service delivery, a lack of job opportunities and more.

The leader of the shutdown movement, Motoko, issued these government entities a very stern warning that if their demands are not met, many angry residents will descend upon them.

Meanwhile, OFM News reported that More told scores of irate residents that the metro will prioritise service delivery in the townships and towns across the metro. He said that the issues of concern include waste removal and sewer spillages, which has been a thorn in the eye for quite a few years now.

The metro and the MSDF are expected to brief the media after their meeting later on Thursday.
