The DA in the Mangaung Caucus previously threatened to lay criminal charges against Mea, who was pointed out in an independent investigation report by two seniors counsels (SC).

According to the DA, the independent investigation led by Tebogo Manye (SC) and Johan Nel (SC), presented in council in July 2021, found that most charges of maladministration and misconduct against Mea were substantiated. The charges were brought forward against Mea after the party called an investigation into his alleged misconduct.

Meanwhile, DA provincial spokesperson, Khangelwa Kolosa, in a statement says the DA Mangaung Caucus Dirk Kotze, Tjaart van der Walt, Werner Pretorius, and Mokgadi Kganakga will be holding a press conference on Friday.

She says this is to communicate the decision taken in laying charges of financial misconduct and maladministration against Mea.

"The residents of Mangaung have been facing enormous service delivery challenges and the lack of accountability from the Municipal Executives has been a major contribution," she adds.
