#CasualDay: Impact of #Covid19 on fundraising tangible - VIDEO, PHOTO GALLERY | News Article

The atmosphere that usually marks the Association of People with Disability’s (AAPD) biggest fundraising event – Casual Day – has been toned down considerably because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The manager at the Jean Webber Home for People with Disabilities, Rachel Davids, says they hope that the culture of dressing up and companies that are challenging others and compete for the best dressed according to the theme, will return soon. The Jean Webber Home is currently housing 33 people with disabilities. Davids says it is difficult to build gees and adhere to Covid-19 regulations.

“Since Covid-19, we do understand that all people are struggling. A lot of people have lost their jobs. That’s why I think people are not quite so into it. I do wish, however, that because we are working with persons with disabilities, that we will make this our first priority,” said Davids.

She says the Jean Webber Home can accommodate more residents, but due to Covid-19 regulations, some of the rooms are now used as quarantine sites for residents who might test positive.
