According to a statement issued by the Northern Cape Education Department, three educators from Umso High School in Colesburg lost their lives in a car accident Saturday night, whilst the other educator is said to be in a critical condition in hospital. The Northern Cape Department of Education has sent out its heartfelt condolences to the affected families and education sector at large following the devastating incident.

The department further stated that this is a huge loss to the department, as the collective contribution of the educators who died is deemed to have been ripped away from their learners and the province. The Education Department, together with the Social Development Department, are expected to offer their support and counselling to learners and educators of the Umso High School.
