According to a statement, the Free State police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, said during the investigation process, Tjobo voluntarily agreed to point out the scene and later provided a confession statement in front of the Magistrate. Makhele said that on Wednesday 8 September 2021, Tjobo was reprehended to serve time in prison for murdering his wife, Sefora Tjobo. According to Makhele, the court heard that the accused led the police to the murder scene on Saturday 4 August 2020, which was an empty reservoir dam situated on an open veld near the junction of the R702 and Dewetsdorp roads.

He said that the suspect firstly misled the neighbours in believing that his wife disappeared with a boyfriend. He drafted a false letter with a message from a fictitious boyfriend arranging to meet his wife at the stock commonage near the murder scene. Makhele said that  Bloemspruit Police arrived at the scene and discovered the lifeless body of the accused's wife with strangulation marks visible on the neck. He said that a piece of electrical cord was discovered lying next to the body. Makhele further said that the scene was processed and the investigation were started. He said the suspect was arrested, he later confessed and was then sentenced to 15 years behind bars.
