EFF dismayed by postponement of SABC presenter’s case - VIDEO | News Article

The EFF has expressed its disappointment after yet another postponement of the attempted murder case against the ex-husband of an SABC presenter, by the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court.

The EFF expressed this in support of Dimakatso Folotsi, whose ex-husband, MacKenzie Ratselane, is standing accused of kidnapping, attempted murder and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH).

The member of the EFF central command team, Sharon Letlape, expressed her disappointment in the justice system after the case was postponed yet again. Letlape says that the case has been postponed to 30 September 2021, as it is a date that the newly appointed advocate of Ratselane will be available. She pledged that they will stand together as women and support the victim until the case has been concluded.

“We are really disappointed in the fact that this case keeps on being postponed and there seems to be no direction or no commitment to see it as an urgent case that needs to be attended to. We are very disappointed but justice is justice, and we need to be patient with it. The perpetrator remain in custody, which put us a bit at ease, to know that the victim is going to be safe,” said Letlape.

She said that the postponement of the case has placed a huge burden on both Folotsi and the community at large, as they feel that the justice system is failing women. Letlape also said that the changing of advocates results in postponements and it is exhausting Folotsi. The NPA should put more effort into the case so that it can be concluded, she added.
