Do not disband interim structures - ANC SG─── LUCKY NKUYANE 10:00 Sun, 26 Sep 2021
The ANC's acting Secretary-General (SG), Jessie Duarte, has responded to concerned Free State Regional Executive Committee (RECs) about committees being disbanded.
She instructed in her reply directed to the party's Interim Provincial Committee (IPC) in the province, in particular, not to disband the interim structures.
She says despite the end of the term in office, the structures must not be disbanded for the duration of the local government elections campaign.
This comes after RECs, including those in the Fezile Dabi region, wrote to Duarte asking for her intervention following plans by the IPC to disband RECs in the province a few weeks before the Municipal Elections.
In this letter, Duarte urged all structures to remain focused on the elections campaign.
"As previously BBGMs and Regional Conferences will be conducted after elections up to the end of December 2021. You are requested to extend their term of office to allow for the proper processing of requirements in terms of the ANC Constitution, after the local government elections," she adds in a letter.
