The group angry residents, mostly elders and disabled people, demanded answers over a housing project in Welkom meant for them.

The Free State Forum4Servuce Delivery's (F4SD) provincial convenor, Thebe Ntsane, says for the past decade corruption has held back the project and left beneficiaries destitute and living in squalid conditions.

Ntsane alleges that the project has been halted since 2019 by a petition brought forward by residents.

He further alleges officials have been an obstacle to the developer and contractor of the project.

They demanded to be addressed by the MEC for Human Settlements as well as premier Ntombela.

However, they were informed by an official that Ntombela was not available.
