At present over 1 million North West residents have been vaccinated thus far and the province has over 2500 active cases. Most recently the head of the Department of Health’s Vaccination Demand Task Team, David Harrison, told Moneyweb that the platinum mining giants in the North West are instrumental in the vaccination of over 1 million people in the Bojanala District against Covid-19.
The province aim’s to have over 2,7 million inoculated come December 2021. Harrison says whilst there are only 120 workplace vaccination sites in the country presently, the department is encouraged, by platinum mining companies in the Bojanala district that are willing to vaccinate surrounding communities and not only mine employees. According to Harrison the uptake with respect to vaccination in the North West platinum district is very slow, with over a million in that area alone not yet jabbed.
