Police in the North West province arrested a man after he was in possession of explosives.

The 35-year-old Patrick Modise was arrested after police found four 500g bags of explogel, as well as electric detonators, in his possession.

Police Spokesperson, Sam Tselanyane, says Modise was arrested at his place of residence in the Magogwe village near Mafikeng after the police received operationalised information, about the suspect allegedly being seen with explosives. Tselanyane says Modise will appear before the Molopo Magistrate's Court in Mmabatho on the 13th of October.

Modise was arrested at the Magogwe Village in Mafikeng on 4 October 2021. The suspect’s house was searched with the assistance of a sniffer dog. During the search, explosives were found.  As a result, Modise was immediately arrested.

Modise will be remanded in custody until his appearance. He will be charged with the possession of explosives. An investigation into the matter continues.
