FS SACP calls for investigations into independent candidates’ funding─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 10:42 Sun, 10 Oct 2021
The South African Communist Party (SACP) has called on government to investigate the funding campaigns of independent candidates and other organisations throughout the province.
This follows the suspension of the former mayor of the cash-strapped Maluti-a-Phofung and ANC chief whip, Vusi Tshabalala.
SACP spokesperson in the Free State, Phillip Kganyakgo, tells OFM News that they are of the view that there may be well-orchestrated anti-ANC machinery, organised from within the ANC and involving leaders or members of the ANC.
Kganyakgo further adds that such counter-revolutionary elements, if found, must be exposed, isolated and must be permanently removed from the movement.
OFM News previously reported that the ANC’s Interim Provincial Committee (IPC) in the Free State had suspended ANC chief whip in the Provincial Legislature for allegedly supporting independent candidates in the upcoming elections.
Meanwhile, OFM News also reported in 2018 that 16 ANC councillors voted with opposition parties to remove Tshabalala in a motion of no confidence after accusing him of corruption. Some of these councillors were later expelled by the ANC.
