NW Cogta intends to dissolve Tswaing municipality─── 10:32 Mon, 11 Oct 2021
The North West-based Tswaing Local Municipality's internal factional battle has led to more problems.
This as the municipality has been struggling to render services to residents, with two officials both claiming the mayoral seat.
On Monday, the Select Committee of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs will brief parliament about a resolution taken by the provincial executive council to dissolve the municipality.
OFM News is in possession of an invitation letter to one of the council members, which state that the Executive Council wants to evoke section 139(1)(c).
Olaotswe Makalela was voted mayor by councillors in April 2021, however, Lydia Malwane is refuting the legitimacy of the process.
The move to dissolve the municipality has been proposed for some time now.
A source close to OFM News indicates that there is a court order to stop the dissolution of the municipality. This is a developing story.
