NW residents set to march because of service delivery─── BLAINE JONES 09:10 Fri, 15 Oct 2021
The issue of service delivery in the small town of Amalia, in the North West, is under scrutiny.
Residents of the town are planning a march on Friday to address failed service delivery by the local municipality.
In an interview with OFM News, a local resident of Amalia, Itumeleng Pitso, says they will march from the town’s local stadium to the municipal offices to hand over a memorandum containing a list of issues needed to be addressed. Pitso says after the handover, the mayor will have 7 days to respond to the memorandum. He further says residents have been struggling with water and electricity issues for 13 years.
“Politicians have made promises to our people. We don’t get services so we decided to march and hand over a formal memorandum to our mayor, so that he can answer us before the elections,” Pitso says.
The march is expected to start at 10:00 on Friday morning.
