EFFSC cruises to victory, Sasco suffers another loss | News Article

The ANC student affiliated movement, the South African Students' Congress (Sasco), has yet again failed to win the Student Representative Council (SRC) elections at the University of the Free State's (UFS) Bloemfontein-based campus.

The EFF Student Command (EFFSC) has, for the second time this year, cruised to a victory.  Sasco lost in all contested positions, including the presidency, secretary and treasurer positions.

However, independent candidates clinched three seats during the elections which commenced this week.

The outgoing EFF Student command president, Jerry Thoka, will hand over the baton to the newly elected president, Luvuyo Jacobs.

OFM News reported in March 2021 that the EFFSC claimed an overwhelming victory. Again, all EFFSC candidates won against Sasco and independent candidates.

EFFSC candidates secured over 50% against their rivals during the elections.

Thoka managed to garner over 5 000 votes while his SASCO rival, Kamohelo Seleka, could only manage to secure just over 1 000 votes.
