Tight security at the Free State High Court has been visible since early Tuesday morning for the expected court appearance of suspended ANC Secretary-General (SG) and former Free State Premier Ace Magashule.

Police officers arrived for duty in their numbers where Magashule and his co-accused are set to appear for the continuation of the asbestos court trial. At least four streets surrounding the High Court precinct in Bloemfontein have been cordoned off with razor wires. Masses of Magashule supporters are expected to arrive in support of the ANC heavyweight, as was the case with every court appearance so far.

Police and traffic officers have been placed strategically on various exits and entry points to the High Court.

The inside of the building is abuzz as court officials and the security guards are wrapping up their preparations for the continuation of this failed asbestos project worth R255 million. Magashule, former Mangaung Metro Mayor Olly Mlamleli, and businessman Edwin Sodi, amongst others, are appearing in court on Tuesday to face more than 70 charges of fraud, corruption, and money laundering.
