Leaders of the Mangaung Service Delivery Forum (MSDF) have vowed to shut down the City of Roses before elections, if there are no positive outcomes from the ongoing negotiations with the Free State Government.

The chairperson of the MSDF, Potso Motoko, tells OFM News that an intervention meeting was scheduled by the provincial government on Tuesday, following calls of the planned Mangaung Shutdown. He says that the ongoing meetings between the parties will have to bring about positive results for residents of Mangaung, or the government should prepare for a total shutdown. Motoko further says that the provincial government has to deal with the corruption that has been taking place in the Free State and ensure that services are brought back to the residents.

“If government denies us clean water, sanitation, residential sites, and all that, we are going to take it to the streets. This has been going on for a very long time now and definitely before elections we will be going to a total shutdown,” he adds.

OFM News previously reported that members of both the Mangaung Concerned Community (MCC) and the Mangaung Service Delivery Forum (MSDF) were present during Ramaphosa’s campaign tour in Bloemfontein. The latter marched to one of the community meeting points to express their grievances, whilst the former was present in Bochabela and revealed that they have penned an open letter to Ramaphosa on the mounting issues in Mangaung.
