The North West police spokesperson, Marobo Seabela, said the 69-year-old Marie Catherine Elisabeth Stapelberg, who resides at Makwassie in Rustenburg, allegedly went missing on 9 October 2021. She was last seen wearing black ladies trousers, a brown camouflage long sleeve shirt, and black sandals.

According to Seabela, her friend told police that they were busy shopping when Stapelberg went to another store by herself and never returned to where they had parked their car. She also told police that she looked for her at the mall and never found her. Seabela says the incident was reported to the police and the search operation to locate her in the surrounding areas was not successful.
