Mangaung residents want Premier to account─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 10:25 Sat, 30 Oct 2021
Enraged residents of Mangaung marched to the Premier's Office in Bloemfontein in the Free State on Friday afternoon to deliver a memorandum of their demands yet again, as they demand accountability.
This follows ongoing meetings between the Mangaung Service Delivery Forum's (MSDF) leaders and the Free State Provincial Government.
The Chairperson of MSDF, Poloko Motoko, tells OFM News that they did not get the desired outcome after their meetings with the provincial government and this led to their decision to march to the Office of the Premier. Motoko said Mangaung residents are demanding accountability by the government regarding the continuous maladministration, nepotism and poor service delivery, among others.
"We are not happy because we did not receive what we expected. The last time we sat for many meetings without any positive response. The Department of Health is still playing around with us, the Destea office is still playing around with us. So, today we want the premier to account for all of this [mess]. We cannot allow a situation where our people are not getting what they ask for," he adds.
The group, accompanied by residents, took to the streets of Bloemfontein, expressing their disappointment over poor service delivery, soaring electricity rates, and a lack of job opportunities in the capital city of the Free State, as well as Dewetsdorp, Botshabelo, and Thaba Nchu, among many others.
