Suspect arrested after woman’s body was found─── 11:10 Wed, 10 Nov 2021
A 30-year-old male suspect is set to appear before the Petrus Steyn Magistrate's Court soon facing charges of murder.
According to the Free State Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, this comes after preliminary investigations were conducted after the body of Thandi Paulina Dhlamini (31) was retrieved by the Welkom Search and Rescue Team in a dam at Lindley. The discovery of the body was made by community members that were walking inside the municipal camp at the bank of the dam.
Makhele alleges that the deceased went missing 17 days ago, however, she was never reported missing to the police by anyone because she usually disappears and goes back home. She was last seen by her parents and friends at a certain tavern in the informal settlement of the Phola Park section. It was discovered that her body was wrapped with a blanket, with stones inside the blanket, together with a wire. It is suspected that she was thrown in the dam. She also sustained bruises on her body.
