In May 2021 around midnight, the deceased, who is also suspected to be from the neighbouring country of Lesotho, was found with a bullet wound to his head and his body was in a decomposed state. 

The deceased’s body is still at the Welkom Government Morgue after he was found at an open field near the substation at Alma Road in Welkom.

Meanwhile, police spokesperson, Stephen Thakeng, says the police are still calling for the public to assist them to trace the family of the deceased and suspects allegedly involved in the killing of the deceased.

“The deceased had no identity documents in his possession. He was wearing a pair of black trousers and his body was wrapped with a multi-coloured blanket.

"Anyone with information that can help identify the deceased or to help in tracing the suspects, should please contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer, Riaan de Lange of Welkom Detective Services at 057  391 6271 during office hours or alternatively the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111,” Thakeng adds.
