The municipal spokesperson, Qondile Khedama, says residents of Lourier Park, Pellissier, Fauna and Fleurdal are set to be affected by water interruptions. 

He says the water interruptions are due to the high turbidity at Welbedacht Dam. He further adds that the high turbidity, which includes a high volume of sand in the water at this damn, comes after recent rainfall at the Caledon River. 

Khedama says this affects operations at the water treatment plant as raw water is too sandy and takes longer to purify.

"High lying areas in different parts of the City will also be affected. Bloem Water is working around the clock to handle this challenge at the plant and we assure residents that the water quality will not be compromised," he adds. 

Khedama further adds that the water pressure will be reduced. 

The Metro has apologised for the inconvenience this may cause.
