Bokkies Pietersen, investigative officer for the Matjhabeng Municipality, tells OFM News that on Thursday, November 18, he received information of an employee allegedly stabbing the tyre of a service delivery vehicle.

Pietersen says he managed to obtain footage of the incident and after analysing the video he could determine the identity of the employee. He says the following day he obtained all relevant statements and had the employee arrested.

Pietersen says the employee is currently in custody.

He adds they are currently investigating malicious damage to property and sabotage to service delivery.

“Tomorrow is his first appearance in court, but we are going to oppose bail because we need to make a very strong statement to potential offenders and others who has done this in the past. We can now clearly see it was sabotage towards service delivery and it is employees of the municipality doing this, so there is no way we can turn a blind eye on this matter,” says Pietersen.
