Bloem Water restores water supply after Mangaung's payment─── TSHEHLA KOTELI 14:31 Tue, 23 Nov 2021
The Mangaung Metro Municipality (MMM) has made a payment of R20 million to Bloem Water, in addition to the R20 million payment they made at the end of last week.
Bloem Water’s Maruping Rapudungoane has confirmed that the Metro has made payments totalling R40 million and the water shall be restored to full capacity by late afternoon or by Wednesday.
OFM News previously reported that the first R20 million payment made by the Metro last week Friday, with the hope to restore the bulk water flow, has not had the desired effect. The entity did not see the payment as enough for the full restoration of water supply to the affected areas as the metro’s current account – about R270 million – was still outstanding.
Rapudungoane has explained that the metro's failure to pay their current account, affects the entity negatively as they have a few non-negotiable commitments they have to pay monthly, which includes Bloem Water’s electricity bill, their employees’ salaries, and chemical suppliers.
