#Covid19 cases amongst police officials a big concern─── BLAINE JONES 13:36 Fri, 03 Dec 2021
There has been huge concern about an upsurge in Covid-19 cases amongst police officials.
This not only claimed the lives of officials but also saw numerous police stations in the Free State province having to close their doors for decontamination. Deputy District Commissioner of Mangaung Metro, KJ Ramakotjo, says it all starts by adhering to Covid-19 regulations and precautions. Where it goes horribly wrong is that people don’t wear masks or adhere to the rules put in place by the President to help curb the Covid-19 virus. Ramakotjo says they arrest people every single day for not adhering to the Covid-19 disaster management regulations. He says they have lost a lot of police officials this year as a result of Covid-19.
“We still have people who we are charging for the contravening the Disaster Management Act, especially the issue of curfews, not wearing masks during the day, nights or weekends - people are always caught not wearing masks,” says Ramakotjo.
