Postmasburg SAPS embarked on #GBV march─── BLAINE JONES 09:07 Thu, 09 Dec 2021
The small town of Postmasburg in the Northern Cape embarked on a march through the streets of the town in support of the fight against gender-based violence (GBV).
Amongst those who joined the SAPS march, were the newly-elected Tsantsabane mayor, Helena English, and various councilors.
Police spokesperson, Nomvuyo Makoloi, says a pledge against gender-based violence (GBV) was signed by all stakeholders, committing their support and cooperation and not to look the other way. Among the messages of support rendered by those involved in the march, there was a message to the males to be more affectionate than aggressive in all forms of relationships.
During the march, women were motivated to never be silent to any form of violence. Parents were motivated to provide enough love and affection to their children, especially daughters. Makoloi says gender-based violence should never be considered as normal and should be addressed and reported immediately to prevent more harm.
